Killed for doing ones job
Now why have I posted this to the Lyall bay page, I think as I was thinking this over as it seems to be another week has passed in little old New Zealand and we have had a police officer either shot or are reading reports of the thugs who have done such a thing being brought to justice.Maybe I just need to wake up and see that we are not such a small peaceful country anymore or maybe things are just being focused on alot more then they have been in the past.I remember being on air in Christchurch when reports of the murder of
Glenn Arthur mckibben* came in, this was the first time it had really hit home to me that one of the people who had chosen to take up a line of work to protect us had been killed for doing that job.No one deserves to die for doing there job and to me a little part of us all dies when a person who is ment to be there for us gets killed.I would not want a country with out police, heck knows I have had to ask for there help during the years and for that I am always grateful.I remember at work when one of the local airport police left for East Timor, he did not need to go but he went to make a difference and there was always a risk that he may not return.Let's respect one another ..... Let's put an end to this kind of senseless killing....This country can be a leader, let's work to become a leader in looking after one another, be they in the police force or not.

A large search operation over the weekend involving over 60 Wellington Police Search and Rescue personnel has failed to find any trace of 51 year-old Robert Logan.He was reported missing on Friday after he failed to meet an appointment at his Kilbirnie Law practice.
His white 1991 Nissan Sunny station wagon was found parked at the Owhiro Bay car park on Friday afternoon. Police later ascertained that it had been there since around midnight on Thursday.
Head of Wellington Search and Rescue (SAR) Sergeant Jo Holden says search teams consisting of Police and Land SAR volunteers were deployed to the South Coast on Friday night, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter also spent over an hour searching the Owhiro Bay, Red Rocks and surrounding areas.
"Yesterday we put six Search teams back into the area, and the Wellington Police Maritime Unit also completed a thorough shore line search."
"Today we called in back-up from Horowhenua and Wairarapa to help in today's search, which enabled us to put nine teams in the field."
The Westpac Rescue helicopter searched for a further hour and a half today to cover the area again.
The Police National Dive Squad today searched an area of shore close to where Mr Logan's car was located with no result.
Several of Mr Logan's friends and family were also out over the weekend looking in places he is known to frequent on the South Coast.
The Search has been now been suspended until Police can obtain further information regarding his location.
Sergeant Holden is urging anyone who knows the whereabouts of Mr Logan to phone Police immediately.

Search underway for missing Wellington man
A search is underway in Wellington for a missing 51 year-old
man.
Police Search and Rescue and Wellington Land Search and Rescue
are searching an area where Robert Logan is known to frequent.
This includes Owhiro Bay, Red Rocks and surrounding areas.Your in the bay:

Buildings in the bay:
Times maybe changing, or maybe the powers that be will once again decide this is not the right thing to do, but if you want to get a little bit of an idea of building hight that maybe coming for the bay if it is not stopped.
Have a look at this apartment block the next time you are down towards Maranui and this is only 3 levels.Where as it is possible if building in the bay does go ahead.They maybe up to 5 floors high. -
