9 confirmed fatalities
Pilot and four males plus 4 overseas tourists
Police are still locating and notifying NOK but it is understood that the pilot and four males were locals from Fox Glacier and the four tourists were from Ireland, England, Germany and Australia.
Names will not be released until after 0900hrs tomorrow to allow NOK to be notified and come to terms with the events

Canterbury Police advise that pursuant to the Mayor invoking the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act, the inner-City of Christchurch will be closed until tomorrow (Sunday, 05 September) while assessments of damaged buildings is carried out.
No businesses or licensed premises will be open and no persons, other than inner-City residents or persons with a bona-fide reason to enter the area, will be allowed in.
Police will man cordons throughout the night.
The CBD-area affected is contained within the Montreal Street, Kilmore Street, Madras Street and St Asaph Street area.

Canterbury Police are urging people to stay at home after this mornings 7.4 earthquake 33km south east of Christchurch.
"We have no reports of any serious injury at this stage, however we are receiving reports of damage to some buildings in the area" says Inspector Al Stewart.
"Check on family, friends and neighbours and stay off the roads if at all possible".
Emergency services are currently moving through the area assessing the situation.

District: CanterburyEarthquake in Canterbury
At about 4.35am this morning an earthquake struck in the Canterbury area.
It was reported as being centred 30 km west of Christchurch and at a depth of 33km.
It had a magnitude of 7.4.
There are reports of structural damage in Christchurch and some mino injuries have been reported to ambulance.
It is recommended that people take care if they have to travel as there has been damage to some roads.
